Shanley Home. The assistant that writes the messages is called Jenkins.
Shanley Home is the SMS program of a sole proprietor, running a private household assistant called Jenkins for the members of a single household. It sends two kinds of message, and no others:
The service carries no advertising, marketing or promotional content. Eligibility is limited to members of the operator's household; the opt-in itself is published and open to inspection on the SMS sign-up page.
Text START to (269) 442-4430. Every household member opts in this way from their own handset and receives a confirmation message in reply. This is the only way to opt in: no number is ever added by anyone other than the subscriber themselves, and no message is ever sent to a number that has not texted START first. The full opt-in details are on the SMS sign-up page.
Only phone numbers belonging to members of the operator's household are eligible for this service, and a message from a number that is not eligible receives no reply. Being eligible does not enrol anyone: no message is sent to an eligible number until that number has itself texted START.
Message frequency varies — replies to messages you send, plus severe weather alerts from the National Weather Service when they are issued for your area. Replies are sent only in response to a message from an eligible household member. Weather alerts are sent only when the National Weather Service issues one, so they are occasional and their number depends entirely on the weather. The service does not send scheduled, recurring, promotional or marketing messages.
Weather alerts are drawn from the National Weather Service and are passed on as a convenience to household members who have agreed to receive them. A household member may stop receiving them at any time by texting STOP.
Do not rely on this service as a source of emergency warnings. Messages may be delayed, incomplete or not delivered at all, and the service may be unavailable without notice. Always follow official warnings from the National Weather Service, local emergency management and broadcast media, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.
Message and data rates may apply. Shanley Home does not charge for messages; any charges are those of the recipient's own mobile carrier under their own plan.
For help, text HELP to the number you are messaging, or contact mike.shanley@gmail.com.
To stop receiving messages, text STOP to the number you are messaging. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent to your number. You may rejoin at any time by texting START yourself from the same handset.
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Shanley Home runs on privately owned equipment and is provided without any guarantee of availability. It may be unavailable, interrupted or discontinued at any time and without notice. Jenkins may be unable to answer a given question, and its replies may be incomplete or incorrect. Do not rely on Jenkins for medical, legal, financial or emergency purposes. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Information collected by this service, and how it is handled, is described in the Privacy Policy.
